Fun school activities are the best way of making children learn. If the fun factor is missing learning becomes slow and painful. As such the topic of fun school activities is not something light to be trifled with. It forms the basis for later activities of the child.
Most children right through school starting from the primary stage need plenty of unstructured fun school activities like running around and chasing each other. Playground games are the best for the body and mind apart from typical organized sports.
The idea of fun school activities must be intertwined with responsibility. For instance each class can be asked to take care of a patch of green or some pet rabbits or ducks in the school pond. They can form groups and take charge of cleaning the classrooms. It will be fun while they learn the task and at the same time pick up the importance of being responsible juniors.
From the age of eight children are ready for organized sport. It is never too early to instill in them that, fun school activities like sports must be competitive but never combative. Sports are an ideal way of releasing the spirit of competition and aggression inborn in man. Nurtured the proper way, sports will replace bloody wars – wars that human kind has still not been unable to get rid of. The child has to be tutored gently to conquer the emotions of winning and losing. If the child gets frustrated the teacher should tactfully change that particular activity to retain the child’s interest.
Different kids do well in different activities – there is no rule of thumb. Some may like non-sport activities and other types of hobbies that will engross them as the slowly mature.
Out of class activities are vital to bond book learning with the practicalities of every day life. It is never too early to teach children to light a fire and make a cup of tea or even bake a cake. This will involve their collecting the ingredients and clearing the mess after the feast. Sewing and knitting have become long forgotten arts but not only are these rewarding in later years but these hobbies take away the tension from modern living. The foundation has to be laid during the early years.
With both parents being unavoidably busy in the modern world the school has extra responsibility in teaching the young to be healthy, happy responsible future citizens of the world.
